The best base to start a NA engine build is 1242cc 8V or higher, reason being that the lower displacement engines simply lack the airflow capacity to provide a reasonable amount of power for the money.

This setup was on eBay a while ago, it was meant for a Toyota (If you couldn't see that!!) but the idea is the same. It's a twin Weber 40 DCOE with individual runners.
