Megasquirt'n'Spark-extra

What is it?
MegasquirtnSpark-extra is new software (firmware) you can download to a Megasquirt board to give you extra features as below. Some require additional hardware to be built. You can turn off features you don't want through Megatune. NOTE! This code will not run on the MS-II processor, it is for the original HC908 CPU.
CAUTION: New users are advised to start with Megasquirt in fuel only before using this firmware. There is a lot to learn to implement Megasquirt and there is a lot more to learn to correctly implement fuel and spark. If you dive straight into the deep end you might get overwhelmed.

Before downloading the code start on the Setting up page

Some of this information has been taken from the official MS'n'S site.

These are the main features:

  • Water Injection Control- including pulsed output at same rate as Inj#bank2
  • 2 x O2 sensor support- one for each bank of injectors
  • 12x12 spark tables- 2 of them that can be switched over on the run.
  • 12x12 fuel tables.
  • NOS control. Including adding the extra fuel if fuel system up to it.
  • R Enns Staging Injection System.
  • D Edge's Target AFR system.
  • Open loop mode on any TPS setting or MAP setting.
  • Over Boost protection - Fuel Cut, Spark Cut or both (Spark cut not on Edis)
  • Rev Limiter - Fuel Cut, Spark Cut or Both (Spark cut not on Edis)
  • Launch control - Including a variable hard cut rpm - Fuel Cut, spark cut or both (Spark cut not on Edis)
  • Over run fuel cut
  • Knock System - Retards ignition when knock detected, all retard degrees can be set. And advance steps. Also has max rpm and MAP for use with Saab system.
  • IAT and CLT related ignition retard/advance
  • Fielding's Idle PWM for 2 wired idle valves.
  • Erics Boost control - not tested yet.
  • Shift light outputs.
  • Outputs 1 and 2 can be inverted and they can be set to be on in a window, e.g. between 2000-5000 rpm.
  • Neon Crank support.
  • Edis
  • MSnS
  • MS - fuel only.
  • Limits to barometric correction, incase you get a reset during engine run you can set the upper and lower limits of barometric correction KPa.
  • After start enrichment in seconds or ignition pulses
  • Ego correction Steps in seconds or ignition pulses.
  • Accel/ Decel timer in seconds or cycles.
  • Accel / Decel in MAP dot or TPSdot. Also can have MAPdot cut out accel when in boost.
  • Monitor and Log EGT and fuel pressure.
