Turbocharging Fiat FIRE Engines This site is dedicated to the Fiat/Lancia FIRE engine family, this means you will only find Engine/Drivetrain related info on this site. If you want car specific info you should look at other Fiat related forum found on the web, the best I have found is www.fiatforum.com . This site will soon be getting a major update since i now have two other toys to play around with, the update is coming along very very slowly.. Please read the site disclaimer BEFORE anything else, this is to protect me from sue happy people. Thanks. Here Quick Information
This is Other information being added to the site but not complete:
Project updates As some of you already know I have concluded my research into turbocharging a stock 999cc fire engine, the only modifications done were the MPI conversion and the necessary modifications to install the turbo, the compression ratio was stock at 9.8 using the stock pistons. My conclusion was that it is not reliable past 150hp and broke a piston on a 168hp dyno run. Pics can be seen here. The engine still started and would run on three cylinders after the incident, it was a compression test that gave it away. I have now begun a new project on a 1108cc fire SPI, this project actually fell into my lap literally. The owner of the car heard some of the guys taking about my conversions at a track day and enquired about it. The only reason I took on this project was because I had never worked on a stock Fiat SPI system before (1108cc 8V), so it will give me a chance to test whether or not it is feasible to adapt my secondary fuel strategy . The best way would be to remap the stock ECU to compensate for the turbo ( this would require larger injectors and larger MAP sensor), the problem however is that I have not heard of anyone releasing the Eprom files from a Fiat yet, neither do I know the address mapping used on these Eprom chips. If anyone has any of this information or wants to help in this are please contact me.
