Site related to do list: Any input from visitors regarding this site and it's content is greatly appreciated. I use your opinions to create a better approach to expose the necessary information. This page was created to keep all site info in one place, here is where all the updates, new ideas and additions are placed before integration in to the main layout. This is only useful to site editors and myself.
I'm looking for a more permanent home since this web host has only a 2Gb bandwidth and that is not enough as it reaches fairly close. The Eprom downloads page has been taken offline to cut down on bandwidth usage, hopefully this will be enough (I never expected this site to generate so much traffic). I've has also been suggested to add a forum to this site so I could cut down on email (currently at about 200-300 a week, guess where I spend my free time!!) and this way other people could also answer general questions some of which I answer hundreds of times
Author's Corner (site only stuff) August 19, 2005 There have been some great comments on the new layout. I've had some people asking if the forum is returning, nothing is conclusive at this time but everything points to a yes but with heavy limitations. July 27, 2005 There is a new layout being tested, lots of info has been moved around so check your links to make sure they work. July 10, 2005 The site is still partially restored, only the HTML and a few pics have been uploaded since my ADSL connection is not functional while they replace the external phone lines in my area. The new layout can't be seen since those pics haven't been uploaded yet, neither have any of the scripts. June 29, 2005 There's a new site editor now. First thing done has been a small layout change and the addition of some material. Site navigation seems to be working well now, if you find dead links please say so. There were a few problems with the site and it has only been partially restored. June 10, 2005 Some of you may have noticed the hit counters are still not functional, it seems I messed up on the coding somewhere but they should work now. May 18, 2005 It has been requested that I add more Portuguese stuff to the site, more specifically info on how-to things. I've been meaning to get a how-to section online for months but simply lack the time, maybe by the end of the month I'll have something. A full site index has also been added for those that want to know exactly what is available on this site. May 17, 2005 As it can be seen the site has been revised once more, It now has hit counters and a navigation menu like before but it will load quicker then the original layout. Since I have no idea what the individual page hits were like all hit counters were set to zero. There have been several additions, including a guest book and a more intuitive layout. I'm looking forward to hearing some feedback on this new layout. May 16, 2005 The site seems to be running ok with no problems so far, I've been trying to find a way of adding a hit counter to all the pages, as you can probably see I haven't figured out how yet!! If anybody can give me a hand I appreciate it. Some people have requested that I place a project update corner on the main page, I'm hoping these additions satisfy some people's needs. The forum seems to be acquiring a bit of use but most people still email or call me up to ask questions. May 10, 2005 I have now disclosed this site to several forums, response has been good with an average hit increase of 331 hits daily, so the daily average is now at 32647 hits. The forum is now online for a trial run, it's fully functional but if there is no interest then it may get removed. May 4, 2005 Since a few people have asked for a more complete history on the first version of the Turbo Panda, I have created a history page for the project and how it got started. This page includes pics and the condition of things when I first started out, I'm still working on it so it may not be complete by the time I refresh the entire site. All of last month the site was fully accessible and never had any bandwidth problems. Once again I thank every visitor for their cooperation in helping me make my sites as great as they are, Thank you. April 30, 2005 I've decided that the site will be officially released in June, the address has been released to some people to see their reaction. Since going on a diet several people have reported that pages load in under 20 seconds on dial up, our goal was ten but this has been deemed satisfactory. April 28, 2005 Even though I have yet to officially release this website to any forum (will be soon) I have already received emails about this site from 328 different people, from what I gather someone that found this site in it's early days posted the address on a turbo forum and that was where most people have been spreading the word from. I'm finally receiving emails asking about the site's latest address, since I no longer have a web domain this has now become harder to find, eventually I'll acquire a new domain that should reflect more of the actual content of this site. The old domain now points to my VW site. April 9, 2005 The bandwidth issue seems to have diminished but is still not enough, I'm once again moving servers, I'm hoping this will be better as they offer a 2Gb bandwidth instead of the 1Gb offered by my previous provider. 46 people seem to think the site is ready to be released officially even though it's nowhere near complete anymore, since I've been adding pages daily I don't think it'll ever be complete anyways. I've now been able to get a friends help to restructure the entire site and place it on a diet, it may not have all the videos and dyno plots I had earlier but now it's only 3MB which translates into almost instant loads for 56k users. The page backgrounds have also been replaced by a simple pattern instead of the animated java screens used before, the navigation menu also took a hike since there were too many pages it had started to become rather slow. March 6, 2005 Any links to VW have now been removed from this site including the Eprom downloads, all the pertaining information is now on my VW site on the old server. I'm now implementing suggestions has I receive them instead of writing them here. The latest suggestion I received was to add a forum to the site but this may have to wait since it would add another burden on the bandwidth, not to consider that there may not be a lot of user interested strictly in a turbo Fiat. February 12, 2005 I'm finding that even though I change servers often people still find my site with it's different ip address. I'm now awaiting responses on whether you think this site is ready for an official release into the world. There has been a suggestion about removing the Eprom downloads since we now have mirrors hosting it, this is to save bandwidth for the main site. January 7, 2005 First of all I'd like to thank some people for sending me parts information and pictures to post. There is now a new page comparing compatible parts between the 2.0 motronic and the GTI engine used in the Golf also included is the earlier 1.3/1.8 engines. (Names have been removed at their request) December 24, 2005 I'm here to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. December 10, 2004 This site will now begin to shift from VW to Fiat since my dad now has my Passat and I have a Fiat project in my hands. Turbo Panda anyone!! November 17, 2004 The bandwidth still seems to be a problem because the site is already blocked. There have been some suggestions that I place a page on forced induction so other's can learn something before they undertake similar projects. November 4, 2004 Has you probably noticed I'm having bandwidth problems with this host, currently my service allows for a 1Gb of bandwidth a month but after about a week I got the email that it had been exceeded so I'm off to find another host. My emails have gotten to an impressive amount, just this week I have 92 unread so if I haven't replied have some patience. October 1, 2004 I've finally been able to transfer most of my info off my old server and onto this site, at the moment the site weighs in at 40MB and is getting close to my 50MB limit. The bulk of the files are the EPROM's and most likely will continue to be so for a while. The dyno plots have been moved to a subfolder on the ftp list just like the EPROM's. |
